Friday Favourites :: 4 June
Happy Friday bookish friends! Doesn’t the week fly when you start with a long weekend? It’s been a real whirlwind type of week here – I was super busy at work this week, out at painting class on Wednesday, and catching up on things at home today. I’m planning a bit of a furniture re-arrange over the weekend – does anyone else love shifting things around at home? My family always get nervous when they see me with the tape measure haha. One of my favourite things this week has been the way that my 7 year old reads “secretly” under her blankets with her owl night light every night.…

What’s your kid reading Wednesday
I had fun with my post from a few weeks ago about what my seven year old was reading, so I thought it might be good to make it a semi-regular sort of thing. I might call it “What’s your kid reading Wednesday” , because I do like the alliteration, even if it’s a bit of a stretch. A is really into graphic novels right now – she gets through them in a single sitting but then reads them over and over again. Here are her 3 latest reads: Pizza and Taco: Who’s the Best? by Stephen ShaskanBest friends are the BEST! But WHO is the BEST? Is it Pizza…

Last Now Next :: 21 April
Today’s post is coming to you from my 7 year old’s bedside table! I’m always interested to hear what everyone’s kids are reading, and A is really getting into planning her reading the moment so i thought I’d share her last, current, and next reads. LAST: Dog Man: Unleashed by Dav PilkeyA loved Cat Kid Comic Club when she read it during the summer holidays, and when we told her she could pick out something from the bookshop a few weeks ago she went straight for the first Dog Man book. She read that one four times in a few days and was super keen to pick up book 2…

Kidlit :: CAT KID COMIC CLUB :: DAV PILKEY
Cat Kid Comic Club is the first book in a BRAND NEW graphic novel series featuring Pilkey’s fan favourite character Li’l Petey who, along with friends Flippy the Fish and Molly, try to teach twenty-one baby frogs how to create their own comics. Cat Kid Comic Club was my first experience with Dav Pilkey’s work, although my daughter is familiar with Dog Man and Captain Underpants, and we both really enjoyed it! My daughter was completely engrossed in this one – she read it in a single sitting, and tells me it was excellent, she would recommend it and she loved the toilet humour (natch). I loved that it sparked…
