Adult Fiction,  Love Local

Event :: Nattie Kate Mason at The Book Cow

Ok, stop the presses! Last weekend I went to A REAL LIVE BOOK EVENT! It has been so long since I went to an in person event! I feel like maybe the last live thing I went to was the Sydney Writers’ Festival last year. In any case, it has been a while and my first time back was wonderful!

On Saturday The Book Cow, a fabulous bookshop here in Canberra, hosted lovely Aussie fantasy author Nattie Kate Mason for a book signing and chat. The weather was absolutely divine (honestly, Canberra in the autumn can be so perfect) and we sat outside (which, besides just being divine also felt super safe) while Nattie and local bookstagrammer Shan (from AllSheReads and All Things Bookish podcast) chatted about her books and process. It was honestly just the perfect way to spend a weekend!

Nattie has a fantasy #LoveOzYA trilogy called The Crowning, and last year released The Goddess of Blood and Bone which is the first in her ADULT series The Immortal Deities duology. I adored this one, and will pop up a review very soon! Book 2, The Gods of War and Darkness will be released at the end of September (you can pre-order it here) and I honestly can’t wait.
I have been meaning to read The Crowning series too, and it was the perfect opportunity to pick up copies.

It was my first trip to The Book Cow and I will 100% be back. The store is gorgeous – they have an entire room of children’s books and an amazing YA collection. Everyone at the store was so nice, and I just love how community minded they are – they hold a story time session for kids on Tuesdays, are super supportive of local authors, and have been keen to make connections with Canberra bookstagrammers too, which I really love. You can keep an eye on their upcoming events here on their website, check out their online shop here, and their Instagram is totally worth a follow too.

Big thanks to the entire team at The Book Cow, as well as Nattie and Shan for such a lovely afternoon out!
I’d love to know in the comments what is the latest book event you’ve been to, OR who is an author you’d love to meet?
