    Review: Ghosted by Amy Hutton

    October 29, 2025 /

Amy Hutton‘s previous two romcom novels, Sit, Stay, Love and Love from Scratch, are firm favourites of mine, so when I heard she was serving us up another swoony story, and this time with a spooky twist, I was onboard immediately. GHOSTED came out at the start of the month and I adored it – check out my review below the publisher’s synopsis. What is Amy Hutton’s Ghosted about? Banishing vengeful spirits from the mortal realm is Holly’s day job, but she’s never had to ghost anyone before – until Callum breaks her heart, making her wish she could exorcise her ex from her life. It’s been two years since…

Review: Love from Scratch by Amy Hutton

    September 6, 2024 /

If you’ve been here before you probably know I love an Aussie romcom novel, and I enjoyed Amy Hutton’s Sit, Stay, Love so much that there was no question I was going to pick up her latest novel Love from Scratch as soon as I could get my hands on it! Here’s the blurb from the publisher’s website – check out my review below! What is Amy Hutton’s Love from Scratch about? Ethan James has a problem: he’s about to start shooting a movie and he needs someone to mind his anxious dog, Harry. This film could make or break Ethan’s career, and he knows he has to give it…

Review :: Love Match by Clare Fletcher

    October 11, 2023 /

I do love spotting Aussie romance books on the shelves, and when I heard Clare Fletcher had a new rural romcom on the way I couldn’t wait to get my hands (eyes) on it! Love Match picks up right where Fletcher’s debut novel Five Bush Weddings left us, but this time we’re following the stories of minor characters from that book – Sarah Childs (who we saw Johnno West leave for Stevie in Five Bush Weddings) and Mabel Peters (aka the Bush Telegraph). I have to admit I’m an absolute sucker for a book that returns me to a familiar setting but with an emphasis on different characters. Check out…

Review :: Sit, Stay, Love by Amy Hutton

    September 4, 2023 /

I love getting my hands on a new Aussie romcom novel and today I’m sharing my thoughts on a recent release by local author Amy Hutton. What is Amy Hutton’s Sit, Stay, Love about? Sera loves owning a pet shelter – even if it’s often tricky to make ends meet, and her mother thinks she’s wasting her life. Thankfully, she can always rely on her steadfast best friend, Toby, who just happens to be the local vet. And then famous actor Ethan James enters the scene. After Sera ‘saves’ Ethan from a friendly German Shepherd, he confesses to a terrible fear of dogs. A canine co-star is all that stands…

Review :: Can I Steal You for a Second by Jodi McAlister

    May 7, 2023 /

Fun romcom reads are all over the place at the moment and I feel like the overwhelming majority of them are from the US, so I always have my eye out for Aussie romance books. I loved Jodi McAlister’s Here for the Right Reasons when I read it last year so I was thrilled when I found out we were getting a sequel! I devoured Can I Steal You for a Second? as soon as I could get my hands on a copy – read on below for my review! Synopsis of Jodi McAlister’s Can I Steal You for a Second? Mandie Mitchell will do anything to get over her…

Currently Reading: Happy Place by Emily Henry

    May 3, 2023 /

I tend to avoid super buzzy books from not Aussie authors, but there has just been so much hype around Emily Henry’s new release, Happy Place, and the reviews I had been seeing were all not only really positive, but also genuinely made it sound like just the kind of sweet cosy read I would enjoy and I couldn’t resist picking it up. Well, I’m a little over halfway through and I have to admit that the reviews were right. I really am loving this one. The split timeline letting us see Harriet and Wyn’s love story develop and eventually fall apart in the past as they are thrown back…

Review :: A Holly Jolly Christmas by Katie Montinaro

    November 23, 2022 /

I always love an Aussie Christmas romance, so I jumped on Katie Montinaro’s new book Holly Jolly Christmas as soon as I spotted it on social media. What is Katie Montinaro’s A Holly Jolly Christmas about? Holly has one thing and one thing only to prove to her family – that she is a capable and organised adult, who can host the perfect Christmas day. The only problem is, Holly is neither of those two things. Disaster seems to follow Holly wherever she goes and this time, it’s in the shape of The Christmas Ruiner; a smug stranger who appears at the worst of times, taking the last of everything…

Review :: Five Bush Weddings by Clare Fletcher

    August 10, 2022 /

Romance books are hot right now, and since so many of the books I’m seeing on the shelves and the socials are from OS authors I’m on a mission to find and read and rave about as many Aussie titles as I can. Five Bush Weddings by Clare Fletcher caught my attention the moment I laid eyes on that divine cover. The dress, the boots, the bouquet of Aussie flora – it is all perfect. I was hanging out for pub day, and then was lucky enough to win an advance copy in a giveaway on social media from the lovely Penguin Random House team. What is Five Bush Weddings…

Currently Reading :: Five Bush Weddings

    July 31, 2022 /

I think I mentioned last week that I’m in the mood for Aussie romance novels at the moment, and my current read Five Bush Weddings by Clare Fletcher, fits right into that category. I’m a bit over halfway through this one, and feel like it fits somewhere between rural romance (like Maya Linnell and Léonie Kelsall’’s books) and romcoms Jodi MacAlister’s Here for the Right Reasons (which I read last week). I’m definitely enjoying it so far – I’ll pop the synopsis (from the Penguin website) below in case you’d like to know more about it. I hope you’ve been reading something wonderful this weekend too! xo Bron Synopsis of…

I read @laurenkeeganwriter’s ALL THE BEES IN THE H I read @laurenkeeganwriter’s ALL THE BEES IN THE HOLLOWS 🐝 last weekend - and loved it! It was the perfect novel to take on my bus trip to Melbourne. I enjoy historical fiction novels so much (especially when they centre around the stories of women) and I find Lauren’s writing both incredibly beautiful and super immersive - I felt like part of the small community the book is set within and was completely caught up in the story. All the Bees in the Hollows is Lauren’s debut novel - I also adored her second book, The Woman in the Seal Skin, which I read earlier this year!
I can’t wait to see what she writes next 🤩🐝🦭
Spending the weekend in Melbourne meant I was face Spending the weekend in Melbourne meant I was faced with the age old dilemma of how many books to pack. I was away from Friday morning to Sunday night and took these three:
🐝 All the Bees in the Hollows by @laurenkeeganwriter
💫 Time Travel for Beginners by @jaclynmoriarty
🧊 Under Story by @chloekbenjamin

Are three books too many for a three-day trip? In my defense, I has 8 hours of bus travel on Friday, and was part through Time Travel already - I finished right on the halfway mark of the bus ride (adored it - everyone MUST read) and read most of All the Bees in the Hollows before I arrived. Then I made decent progress on Under Story while I waited for my flight!

How many books do you pack for a weekend away?
