Q&A :: Carla Caruso :: The Right Place

    October 9, 2018 /

Earlier this week I shared my thoughts on Carla Caruso’s fun and food-filled novel, The Right Place. Carla was kind enough to answer some questions I asked about the book and her experience writing it – read on to see what she told me about it. Do you remember when the idea for The Right Place first came to you, and what inspired you to write it? My idea for The Right Place came about when ‘rural romance’ was a big new shiny thing in the romance fiction world. There was a buzz in the industry about it and books with Akubra-wearing farm girls were flying off the shelves! Great…

Check it out below =) Do you remember when the idea for The Path of the Lost  first came to you and what inspired you to write it?  I remember constantly struggling to pay attention during some of my university lectures; instead I’d slip into a recurring daydream of a character that had fallen into another world, which became the Cosm in…

I read @laurenkeeganwriter’s ALL THE BEES IN THE H I read @laurenkeeganwriter’s ALL THE BEES IN THE HOLLOWS 🐝 last weekend - and loved it! It was the perfect novel to take on my bus trip to Melbourne. I enjoy historical fiction novels so much (especially when they centre around the stories of women) and I find Lauren’s writing both incredibly beautiful and super immersive - I felt like part of the small community the book is set within and was completely caught up in the story. All the Bees in the Hollows is Lauren’s debut novel - I also adored her second book, The Woman in the Seal Skin, which I read earlier this year!
I can’t wait to see what she writes next 🤩🐝🦭
Spending the weekend in Melbourne meant I was face Spending the weekend in Melbourne meant I was faced with the age old dilemma of how many books to pack. I was away from Friday morning to Sunday night and took these three:
🐝 All the Bees in the Hollows by @laurenkeeganwriter
💫 Time Travel for Beginners by @jaclynmoriarty
🧊 Under Story by @chloekbenjamin

Are three books too many for a three-day trip? In my defense, I has 8 hours of bus travel on Friday, and was part through Time Travel already - I finished right on the halfway mark of the bus ride (adored it - everyone MUST read) and read most of All the Bees in the Hollows before I arrived. Then I made decent progress on Under Story while I waited for my flight!

How many books do you pack for a weekend away?
