Carla Caruso‘s latest novel, The Right Place, is full of food, fun, family drama, and a bit of romance too. I do love a book that brings together the stories of women from different times and places, and in this one we follow Nella, in modern day Adelaide, and her nonna Esta, newly arrived in 1950s Australia. With her dreams of dominating Melbourne’s fashion scene in tatters, Nella Martini has returned to the last place she wants to be – Torrente Blu, the market garden inherited from her late nonna. Review :: The Last of the Bonegilla Girls :: Victoria Purman
The Last of the Bonegilla Girls is a brand new novel (released today!) that ticks a whole lot of boxes for things I like to read – it’s historical fiction, it’s the story of ‘ordinary’ women, it’s set in Australia, and written by an Australian women. Beyond this I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this book.
