#LOVEOZYA :: Road Tripping With Pearl Nash :: Poppy Nwosu

    September 13, 2021 /

The summer is finally here, and Pearl Nash is on a mission to save her slowly disintegrating friendship with a whirlwind end-of-year road trip that is definitely, absolutely, most positively going to solve all her problems. Except, instead of her best friend Daisy’s feet on her dash, suddenly Pearl ends up stuck in the middle of the desert beside Obi Okocha, a boy with a mega-watt smile and an endlessly irritating attitude. Tasked with delivering him to the most epic end-of-year party ever, located in a beach shack in literal middle-of-nowhere woop woop, Pearl Nash is certain that nothing could be worse than this. She’s wrong. Add in a breakdown,…

#loveozya :: Taking Down Evelyn Tait :: Poppy Nwosu

    June 17, 2020 /

There was a run of absolutely spectacular #loveozya books that came out across late March into April and May, and one of those that I have read – and adored – so far is Poppy Nwosu’s gorgeous contemporary novel Taking Down Evelyn Tait The door creaks open and standing in the entrance is my absolute worst nightmare. Perfect hair, perfect teeth, perfect brain. Perfect sneer. Evelyn Tait. Impulsive Lottie – heavy-metal fan, expert tomato-grower and frequent visitor to the principal’s office – is in even more trouble than usual. Her best friend Grace has dropped an unlikely bombshell: she’s dating Lottie’s mortal enemy, good-girl Evelyn Tait. Studious Jude, the boy…

I had a little practice run and, though the Hyatt hightea will be lusher than this I can confirm this gorgeous book pairs perfectly with scones and a cuppa!
Tickets for this event we're almost all snapped up, last I heard, but there is plenty of bookish fun to be had across the whole weekend at the festival (including some great events on Friday night!) so pop over and check the program if you haven't already booked! 📚

We spent a lovely morning in the sunshine outside @thebookcowkingston for a gorgeous event celebrating @gabrielletozer's latest picture book TINY GOOD THINGS ✨💜 It is such a beautiful book, and it was also a wonderful excuse to catch up with loads of friends, including @emmagreyauthor and @aussie_kids_books - both of whom I managed to snap here.
My daughter and I picked a pair of YA titles to earn our LYBD personal penguin 🐧📚 - I've been looking forward to getting my hands on @margot.mcgovern's Our Dark Unravelling, and my daughter spotted Augusta Pine Does not exist by Emily Lloyd-Jones which happens to have a cover that matches nicely with Margot's cover 💙💖
I hope you had a chance to get out to your fave book shop if you have one nearby - I'd love to hear if you were able to pick up a bookish treat for yourself too!
