Friday again – can you believe it? This week has been exciting with the blood moon, and hitting the middle of the school term. We also had a birthday party on the weekend, which have been fairly few and far between the past 12 months on account of lockdowns etc. When my daughter is heading off to a party I always like to include a book in the birthday present, which leads me to my Friday favourite for the week – our local comic book store. I have been seeing Pumpkin Heads – a gorgeous graphic novel by Rainbow Rowell and Faith Erin Hicks – all over bookstagram this month, and last week I finally caved and bought it. Review :: Unicorn of Many Hats :: Dana Simpson
I have read a couple of the Phoebe and her Unicorn books before and love them, so I was happy to have the chance to review the latest volume, Unicorn of Many Hats. I did get a free ebook through NetGalley, but then had a few technical issues with downloading galleys onto my iPad, so borrowed this one from the library instead. Unicorn of Many Hats is the seventh volume of comics featuring Phoebe and her best friend, unicorn Marigold Heavenly Nostrils. The stories are sweet and fun, with a Calvin and Hobbes kind of feel. Free Comic Book Day 2017
We have a fantastic local comic book store which we visit pretty much every Saturday morning (Sam has a standing weekly order with them). It’s always a fun part of the weekend – while Sam checks out the new releases Amelia and I have a browse around and she points out characters she knows on the comics and merch, and has a chat with the guys who work there (who have know her since she was about 18 months old and Sam used to go in with her on his chest in the baby carrier on his days off work).
