    Book stack :: Recent Book Mail

    July 8, 2021 /

    It’s been such a long time since I shared a book mail stack, so when a package of upcoming titles arrived from Allen & Unwin this week I couldn’t resist snapping them to show you! These are all out on 3 August, and I’ll be aiming to have reviews here in the week or two after that. Sugar Town Queens by Malla Nunn (Young Adult fiction)Fifteen-year-old Amandla’s mother has always been strange. For starters, she’s a white woman living in Sugar Town, one of South Africa’s infamous shanty towns. She won’t tell anyone, not even Amandla, about her past. And she has visions, including ones that promise the return of…

    PREVIEW :: More Book mail!

    February 22, 2021 /

    Now, I know I just posted a little preview stack a few days ago, but the book people are BUSY right now, and I have been blessed with A LOT of #bookmail over the past week or two. So, I thought I’d share another little stack of books I’m looking forward to reading. While we’re talking book mail and reviews, I just wanted to pop in a little overview of how I ‘work’ with this sort of stuff. I don’t receive a lot of unsolicited books in the post, meaning if publishers send me something it is generally a book I have specifically requested. I only ask for books if…

    Book Stack :: HERSTORY: Women Who Rebel

    January 19, 2020 /

    I love reading historical fiction, especially based around the lives of Australia women – regular women who did extraordinary things, and who have largely been written out of history. Harper Collins Australia (Harlequin Books) have published some of my favourite books of this type over the past few years, so when I saw they were running a special HERSTORY: Women Who Rebel campaign I was super excited and keen to read along. Which also meant I was delighted when the team at Harper Collins kindly sent me a stack of the first four books being featured in the campaign! There’s a different title being featured each month, and I’m really…

    Sunday Stack :: March book mail

    April 7, 2019 /

    Happy Sunday book friends! This week I wanted to share a little stack of some of the book mail I have received in the past few weeks. I’m embarrassed to admit that I’ve been doing a pretty terrible job of keeping track of my incoming books, so as well as it being fun to show you what I’ve got it will hopefully also help me with that! I’ve popped the links both to Goodreads and the publishers pages for these below (and, just to be clear, these are all books I have received for free from the publishers) * Horse Warrior – Meredith Jaffe (on goodreads)Middle grade fiction, out in…

    August Book Mail

    I had some pretty good book mail in August, so I thought I’d share it here – kind of a preview of some of the books that I’ll be reading over the next little while.These are a mix of books I’ve been sent for review, bought online, and even one I won in a giveaway. The Girl Who Fell: The Chess Raven Chronicles :: Violet Grace  (on goodreads) I had seen a bit of buzz about this one on social media and was thrilled when Nero books sent me a copy. This is the first book in a new YA fantasy series. Secrets Hidden Below :: Sandra Bennett (on goodreads)…
